A LONG-LOST PREHISTORIC TROPICAL OCEAN
Fossil world
With the help of fossil artifacts, scientists were able to recreate the Korneuburg basin as it looked 17 million years ago. Once, long ago, sharks and other ocean creatures swam there, through shallow waters. Crocodiles and rhinos dwelled along flat banks. Fascinating as all of this is, the biggest attraction there is the world’s largest oyster reef, who’s 20.000 giant oyster fossils are still the object of scientific research. Don’t miss this interesting piece of geological history!
