Resort | Therme | SILENT SPA

1. Is the Therme Laa - Hotel & Silent Spa open again?

The entire resort of Therme Laa - Hotel & Silent Spa is open again since May 19th, 2021. For a relaxing stay, please note the guidelines and requirements for your visit.

2. Which requirements do I have to meet for a stay in the hotel, in the thermal baths or in the SILENT SPA?

Your health is very important to us: We therefore adhere strictly and conscientiously to all requirements of the federal government and continuously adapt our measures in accordance with new requirements. A prerequisite for your stay in the entire resort of Therme Laa - Hotel & Silent Spa is either

  • a proof of one of the "3Gs" (tested, recovered or vaccinated) or
  • a certificate from the Green Pass.

In questions 3 & 4 in our FAQs, we have summarized what this evidence should look like in exact terms and what you should pay attention to. For children up to the age of 12, the parents' proof of access applies. Proof of your own according to the “3G rule” is therefore only required from the age of 12. School tests are also valid in this case.

Since July 1st, 2021, you no longer have to wear a FFP2 mask or mouth and nose protection in the entire Therme Laa resort.

The requirements of the federal government also include a registration - your name and phone number must be provided. Your data will be treated with the utmost sensitivity, will be deleted after 28 days and will only be passed on to the health authority on specific request, so that you can be informed of a possible risk.

3. Which documents are specifically required for my stay ("3G-rule")?

Based on the "3G-rule", please prepare one of the following documents for your visit:

  • Proof of a negative corona test:
    Please note that your test result must be valid for the entire day, for example when you visit the thermal bath. Only the official test certificate (the SMS notification alone is not sufficient) is valid as proof. Please provide

    • a negative self-test with digital capture, valid for 24 hours & only for guests from Austria. Here you find all the details.
    • a negative antigen test issued by an authorized agency, valid for 48 hours. Please note: From September 15th, 2021, this proof is only valid for 24 hours! (Step 1 of the federal government's step-by-step plan comes into force)
    • a negative PCR test, valid for 72 hours

  • Proof of vaccination against COVID-19:
    The yellow vaccination passport made of paper or other official vaccination documents serve as proof of this. The vaccination is only valid if the vaccine administered is also approved by the EMA. This currently includes Biontech Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson.

    • With the 2nd vaccination you are exempt from the test obligation for 9 months (from the day of the 1st vaccination).
    • Vaccines that only need one vaccination (e.g. from Johnson & Johnson) are valid from the 22nd day after vaccination for a total of 9 months from the day of vaccination.

  • Proof of the recovery from COVID-19:
    For those who have recovered from the corona, the exemption from the test obligation applies for a certain period of time. In this case, we ask you to confirm that you were infected with COVID-19: For that we need

    • the submission of an official separation notice: Persons who have been infected with the coronavirus are exempt from the test requirement 6 months after recovery.
    • a medical confirmation of an infection that has taken place in the last 6 months and has currently expired.
    • a detection of neutralising antibodies not older than three months.

As an alternative to this proof, you can also show the certificates from the Green Passport. You can find details on this in question 4 of our FAQs.


4. What is the "Green Passport" and what are the certificates about?

The aim of the EU Digital COVID Certificates or the Green Passport is to simplify the freedom to travel within the EU, the EEA countries and Switzerland by means of standardized and universally valid certificates. These are automatically created for Austrian citizens and can be accessed free of charge at There you can download your certificates and show them digitally or as a printout together with your official photo ID in course of your visit.

The Green Passport includes the following certificates:

  • The test certificate
    Is automatically created for people who tested negative for COVID-19 (e.g. in an official test street, pharmacy, etc.). Certificates are not created for antigen self-tests with digital solution.

  • The certificate of recovery
    For people who have been infected with COVID-19 and have been recorded in the EMS in Austria, the recovery certificate is automatically created on the basis of a PCR test. Recovery certificates are not created based on evidence of positive testing for neutralizing antibodies.

  • The vaccination certificate
    For people who have received a corona vaccination in Austria with a vaccine approved by the EMA and who are entered in the vaccination register, the vaccination certificate is automatically created.
    • You will receive your certificate after the 2nd vaccination. This is valid for 9 months (counted from the day of the 1st vaccination).
    • In the case of vaccines for which only a partial vaccination is intended (e.g. from Johnson & Johnson), you will also receive a certificate. This certificate is valid from the 22nd day after vaccination for a total of 9 months from the day of vaccination.

Important Information:
Despite the implementation of the Green Passport in Austria, the existing proofs can still be used. You do not necessarily have to show certificates from the Green Passport if you have other, valid evidence (e.g. a valid entry in the vaccination pass, an antigen self-test with digital recording, an antibody test, etc.).

The certificates printed on paper are checked, on the one hand, by simply reading the data by the verifiers and, on the other hand, digitally on the verifier's device using the official GreenCheck verification application (scan of the QR code).

5. Do all guests and children have to wear a FFP2 mask or any form of mouth nose protection?

After a long period of wearing a mask, we are finally able to take a deep breath again:
Because since July 1st, 2021, you no longer have to wear a FFP2 mask or mouth and nose protection in the entire resort of Therme Laa - Hotel & Silent Spa.

Please note, however, that your entire stay in the resort, in the thermal baths, in the restaurants and in the SILENT SPA must be covered by a valid "3G certificate" or a certificate from the Green Passport. We have summarized all further information on the requirements in the FAQs for questions 3 & 4.

Since the number of COVID-19 cases is rising again in some countries, we ask that you take responsibility for the elimination of the mask requirement. Because then we will hopefully be able to live without FFP2 and Co. for a longer time - and finally smile at each other more again.

6. What should I do if my test certificate expires during my stay?

Before your arrival we ask you to get a test certificate that covers the duration of your stay (e.g. a PCR test; validity: 72 hours). If that is not possible or if you want to relax a little longer in the Therme Laa and your test result expires during your vacation, then you can easily renew your proof.


Self-test with digital capture (only possible for guests from Austria):

  • Easily renew your verification with a self-test: In this case, the certificate of a negative test result is valid for 24 hours. You can do the test directly in your hotel room and you find all information about the test and how to perform it here.
  • Please take the antigen test with you from home (you can get 5 free antigen tests from your pharmacy).

Antigen tests in Laa an der Thaya:

  • The "Pharmacy zum Heiligen Josef" in Laa an der Thaya carries out antigen tests.
    Please register online or by phone on 0800/220 330 (7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily). You can find the opening times here.
    Please also note that an appointment must be booked online after registration. Direct on-site testing is therefore only possible to a limited extent.

You are not from Lower Austria and would like to take advantage of the on-site tests? This is of course possible without restrictions: after successful registration at, the test roads can be used as usual.

7. I would like to book a vacation. But what do I do if I have to cancel my stay at short notice due to corona?

We are of course aware that planning your vacation has always been easier. Therefore, we would like to offer you all the more security and flexibility: If something unexpected should come up, you can cancel your planned stay up to one day before arrival, relaxed and free of charge. In this case, please let us know immediately - thank you very much!

8. What hygiene and safety measures have been taken for the guests?

We strictly adhere to all requirements of the federal government and continuously adapt our measures in accordance with new requirements.

For a relaxing stay with us, we have developed an additional hygiene and protection concept that has already proven itself to be safe over the past year. This includes measures such as the regular disinfection of contact surfaces in the resort (tables, bar, hotel reception, doorknobs, lanyards, etc.). You will also find disinfectant dispensers throughout the resort, which you are of course welcome to use.

As an additional safety measure, our employees are also tested against COVID-19 twice a week - because the 3G rule also applies to you.

9. What should you know about the measures taken in the restaurants?

As an external guest, you must meet the requirements communicated by the federal government to visit our restaurants (3G rule). You can find this under point 2 of our FAQs.

From now on there are no longer any restrictions on how many people can sit at a table and you can now also consume drinks directly at the bar.

10. Can I use the restaurant as an external guest?

Of course, you can also use the restaurant if you are not a hotel guest. We ask you to make a reservation request at +43 (0) 2522 84700 9602. When you visit a restaurant, please also note the current requirements that we have summarized for you in question 2 of our FAQs.

11. What about the bathing area and the sauna? Is there something I should know about?

Before your stay, please note the requirements of the federal government, which we have summarized for you in points 3 & 4 of the FAQs.

In the bathing area you can look forward to a relaxing day without restrictions! You can also enjoy infusions in the sauna as usual. Only "waving" is unfortunately not yet possible.

12. I live in a neighboring country like the Czech Republic. Can I also spend my vacation at Therme Laa - Hotel & Silent Spa?

We look forward to welcoming our guests from neighboring countries again after the long break from traveling! Please note the detailed information provided by the federal government if you travel across the border of Austria.

Information on the pre-travel clearance form
Guests from the Czech Republic do not have to fill out the pre-travel clearance form when entering Austria at the moment.

Vouchers & Promotions

1. My voucher expired between November 1st, 2020, and May 18th, 2021. Will it be extended?

Value- and service vouchers do not expire during this period - after all, you could not use them. The price guarantee (validity) of these vouchers is therefore automatically extended until December 31st, 2021! (except for advertising vouchers)

2. My collective pass for the thermal baths or the SILENT SPA expired during the period of closure. Will its validity be extended?

Your collective pass is usually valid for one year from the first stamp. But don't worry: If your collective pass expires during the period of closure, i.e. between November 1st, 2020 and May 18th, 2021, we will extend its validity until December 23rd, 2021.

Please note that due to the restrictions imposed by the federal government and the reduced capacity, these offers can only be redeemed during the week (Monday - Friday, excluding public holidays).
